Violence during hartal of Popular Front; Attachment proceedings should be completed immediately, high court’s ultimatum to govt

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has given a final warning to the state government. The high court has asked the government to complete the confiscation proceedings over the violence witnessed during the hartal staged by the Popular Front, immediately. The court informed to submit the report before January 23.

District wise report should be submitted before January 23rd after completing the process. The court also said prior notice is not needed for confiscation proceedings. The division bench of the high court expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in the confiscation proceedings. The home department had earlier informed the court that the confiscation proceedings would be completed before January 15. Dr V Venu, additional chief secretary of home department, who appeared directly as per court directive, expressed regret over the delay in the proceedings.
