Kakkanad: Police arrested a woman for threatening a young entrepreneur with his nude pictures and extorted lakhs of money. Shijimol (34), who lives at the MLA flat in Palachuvadu, NGO quarters was arrested for fraud against a Malappuram native.

Police informed that Shijimol had coerced the complainant of Rs 38 lakhs from September 2021 onwards by threatening him of circulating nude photos on social media.

The investigation team found that the man, who reached to meet Shijimol in her flat, was intoxicated with drugs mixed in cool drinks. Later she took his nude photos and videos. Two days later she called him by phone and threatened that she would share the pictures with his family and on social media if he refused to give money. She had extorted Rs 20 lakhs from him. The rest of the money was amassed lying that she was pregnant and wanted to build a house of her own as she could not continue living in the flat anymore.

When she tortured him of staying in his house, the complainant even attempted suicide. However, he then decided to lodge a complaint with the police.

A team under Thrikkakara CI R Shabu arrested Shijimol, who was an accused in the Varappuzha sex scandal case. Police have extended probe to find if she has connections with any other similar cases.
