Wild elephant attacks Maoist group in Kannur; attack survivors escape leaving wounded man behind

KANNUR: A wild elephant attacked a Maoist group in Kannur. Attack survivors escaped after leaving a wounded man behind. Suresh, a native of Chikkamangalur, Karnataka, was injured. A six-member team had reached Kanjirakolly Chitari Colony. It is reported that the Maoist gang reached the house of Krishnan and entered the forest after purchasing rice and other goods.

Meanwhile, an employee of the Forest Protection Committee died after being attacked by a wild elephant in Wayanad. Vellachalil Paul (50) was killed by a wild elephant. Paul was attacked by a wild elephant at 9 o’clock this morning. He was on his way to work when he was caught in front of a herd of elephants. Paul who fell on the ground in fear was stomped by a wild elephant.

Paul’s spine was seriously injured in the attack. Colleagues who came to know about the incident are the ones who took Paul to the hospital. Paul was shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital after his condition worsened. His death occurred there.
