Western command chief visits IB in JK, reviews security

armyJammu: In the wake of foiling of twin infiltration bids of armed militants, the chief of army’s Western Command today visited troops along the border in Jammu region and reviewed the security situation along border belts.

Lt Gen K J Singh visited the troops engaged in the security of border area in Jammu, Samba and Kathua, a defence spokesman said.

During his visit, he took a stock of the security arrangements in these sensitive areas and complimented the troops in successfully maintaining a high state of vigil against enemy designs, braving the odds of terrain and weather, the spokesman said.

Singh had a detailed interaction with the ranks and file in one of the forward locations wherein he lauded their role in maintaining a relentless high state of alert for the security of border areas, he said.

During the course of his visit, Singh was accompanied by military commanders from the Rising Star Corps.

BSF jawans had foiled two consecutive infiltration bids along the International Border (IB) in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir since July 9.
