Wayanad man-eating tiger finally caught; Locals demand shooting it on spot

WAYANAD: The man-eater tiger that killed a youth in Vakeri has been caged. The man-eater which was a nightmare for the local residents was caged on the tenth day of the mission to catch the tiger. The incident happened Monday afternoon at 2.15 pm. The tiger was trapped near the spot where the young farmer Prajeesh was killed in Koodallur.
The tiger was trapped inside the first cage set up by the forest department while the search was in progress. The man-eating tiger is now in a cage in a coffee plantation near Koodallur. Steps are in progress to bring it out.The locals are demanding that the tiger should not be released into the forest and should be shot dead. The tiger killed the dairy farmer identified as Prajeesh (36) when he went out to cut grass for his cattle, and then ate him. He reached the spot again and had killed a pregnant cow.

It was earlier confirmed to be a 13-year-old tiger named WWL45. The visual of the tiger was caught on two cameras installed near the chicken farm in Koodallur. The tiger was identified by comparing this with the picture in the possession of the forest department. After identifying the man-eating tiger, the Chief Wildlife Warden had ordered to shoot it if it could not be caught.

The officials said that this same tiger is now trapped in the cage. A special team of Rapid Response Force from Kannur and Kozhikode had also reached the spot to find the tiger.
