Water level in Mullaperiyar dam will be maintained at 138 ft till Saturday, Tamil Nadu assures Kerala

IDUKKI: Tamil Nadu has assured Kerala that the water level in the Mullaperiyar dam will be maintained at 138 ft till Saturday. Tamil Nadu gave the assurance in the official level discussion. Water will be released through the spillway if the water level reaches 138 ft. Earlier, Kerala had asked Tamil Nadu to fix the water in the dam at 137 ft.

If the Mullaperiyar dam has to be opened, the Idukki dam will not be able to hold excess water. With the water level nearing 138 ft, the district administration has taken precautionary measures. The current water level of the dam is 137.6 feet. As the rains subsided, the flow of water also decreased.
