Kochi: Actor Unni Mukandan has sought relaxation in the sexual assault case filed against him over appearing before the court in person. The high court is set to hear his version of the story on Friday after the survivor accused him of forging a document.
The court had vacated the stay of the trial proceedings a week ago. The stay was issued in 2021 based on settlement documents submitted by the accused to the court. The complainant argued that she had not signed any settlement agreement. She added that documents were forged to mislead the court into obtaining a stay order.
The complainant woman, an NRI, had alleged that the actor attempted to sexually assault her in 2017 when she visited Kochi to discuss a movie project. However, Unni Mukundan rejected her claims as fake and fabricated. She then filed a complaint with the magistrate court.
Advocate Saiby Jose Kidangoor, who is accused of collecting money from clients in the name of bribing judges, is representing the actor. Unni Mukundan had filed petitions to quash the case in the magistrate court and sessions court. However, the courts rejected his petitions. He then moved HC.
