New Delhi: Popular Front of India (PFI) has moved the Supreme Court challenging the UAPA Tribunal’s ruling upholding the centre’s decision to ban the outfit. The review petition was filed in the Supreme Court by PFI chairman O.M.A. Salam.
In September 2022, the Union Government temporarily banned PFI, eight front organisations, including Campus Front of India, for a period of five years under the Unlawful Activities and Prevention Act (UAPA) for their alleged anti-national activity. The centre declared the outfits as “unlawful association”.
Later, the UAPA tribunal of the Delhi High Court bench of Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma upheld the centre’s decision.
