The quantum of punishment for the twelve accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case would be pronounced on January 28. The hearing of the prosecution and the defendant were completed on Thursday afternoon. The prosecution observed that the case is rarest of the rare. The murder has shook everyone’s conscience and the accused are a threat to the society. Judge R Narayana Pisharady said in a open court that except Lambu Pradeep, the other 11 accused have committed a crime which deserves death. Lambu Pradeep may get 7 years imprisonment for the crime, the judge said.
CPM leader K C Ramachandran, who was convicted by the court on Wednesday, said he was never named an accused in any cases so far. He was made a prey in the political game. All witnesses and statements were false, he said.
The 13th accused CPM Panur area commitee member P K Kunhanandan said he had not committed any crime and his health is doing poor. He was never named accused in any case so far. He said that his wife stays alone at home and sought less punishment.
