Tanur: Kerala High Court on Tuesday took suo moto cognisance in connection with the death of 22 persons in a boat accident at Tanur in Malappuram on Sunday. The High Court directed the port officer to submit a report on the matter.The court remarked that “a shocking incident” had occurred in Tanur and directed officials to find out how the accident happened.As many as 22 people, including a police officer, were killed after an overloaded double-decker tourist boat capsized at Parappanangadi on Sunday.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that a judicial inquiry along with a meticulous investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Kerala Police will be conducted.
