Sudhakaran likely to become KPCC president

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K Sudhakaran, who is backed by Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, is all set to become the new KPCC president. The high command’s announcement is expected later this week. AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala Tariq Anwar, who was scheduled to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram this week to interact with the leaders, canceled his visit and started contacting the leaders by telephone. He is mainly seeking the views of MPs, MLAs and members of the Political Affairs Committee on the new president.

It is learnt that Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala and Mullappally Ramachandran have informed Tariq Anwar that they would accept whomever the High Command decides. Meanwhile, Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are of the view that Mallikarjun Kharge played a drama by coming to Thiruvananthapuram to elect the leader of the opposition. Such an act made the election of opposition leader a big debate and humiliated Ramesh Chennithala. In order to avoid a similar situation in the case of the KPCC president, the senior leaders have decided not to mention any particular name. K Muraleedharan is of the same opinion. He also assured Tariq Anwar that he would accept the high command’s decision.

Along with the KPCC president, various DCC presidents may also change. In Kannur, a leader close to Venugopal may replace Satheesan Pacheni as the DCC president.
