Thiruvananthapuram: Poojappura police have arrested a person in connection with the death of student-social media influencer. According to the police, the person arrested is Benoy (22) of Mundela, Nedumangad, who is a friend of Aditya (18), the young influencer who died at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital on Monday while undergoing treatment for attempted suicide.
The police had taken Benoy into custody on Tuesday morning following the complaint lodged by Aditya’s mother raising suspicions regarding his role in her daughter’s death. Benoy is also a social media influencer. The arrest has been recorded after a detailed interrogation. The police also have slapped POCSO charges against Benoy.
It was on Monday that Aditya, a student social media influencer had passed away while undergoing treatment following a suicide attempt last week, allegedly sparked by cyberbullying.
Aditya, a Class 12 student at Cotton Hills Girls School, had been admitted to the hospital in critical condition after her suicide attempt. Despite intensive care efforts and ventilator support, she succumbed to her injuries .
The teenager’s troubles began amidst a tumultuous relationship with Benoy, a local Instagram influencer from Nedumangad. Their romantic relationship had recently soured, leading to a heated exchange between their respective followers on social media. The situation escalated into a cyber conflict, marked by inflammatory comments and personal attacks directed at both.
