Kottayam: In a shocking incident, a student was murdered by her alleged boyfriend inside the college campus on Friday morning. The accused was identified as Abhishek Baiju of Koothattukulam.

Abhishek approached Nithina Mol, 22, of Thalayolaparambu, when she was coming out of the exam hall at the Pala St. Thomas College, Kottayam. He slit her throat using a paper cutter and other students were awestruck and taken aback by the cruelty.

Abhishek and Nithina who were classmates were in a relationship. The accused unleashed the crime after she broke up with him.

The victim had not approached the college with any kind of complaints against the accused till date, Dr James John Mangalath, principal of the college, told mathrubhumi.com.

Abhishek is under police custody. His arrest will be recorded after interrogation.

According to police, the students had nabbed the accused after the crime took place and handed him over to the police.Abhishek and Nithina arrived at the college in the morning to appear for final semester exam of their BVoc UG degree course in Food Processing Technology.
