Strict restrictions to be imposed in Kerala from Thursday night, applicable to places of worship, gatherings not allowed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government is tightening the restrictions announced in the state from Thursday night in view of Omicron spread. No gatherings will be allowed. Those who go out for urgent needs must carry a self-declaration with them.

The government had said that second shows will not be allowed in theatres from Thursday to Sunday as part of the restrictions. In addition to this, the Disaster Management Department said that religious, political and cultural gatherings will not be allowed on these days from 10 pm to 5 am. These restrictions apply to places of worship as well.

A night curfew was announced in the state to contain the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus. The night curfew will be effective from December 30 to January 2. Restrictions will be in force from 10 pm to 5 am. Shops and establishments have been instructed to close at 10 pm.
