Special squads to crack down on goons in state, ADGP Manoj Abraham to co-ordinate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of goonda attacks and murders, a decision has been taken to form special squads to crack down on goons in the state. The decision was taken at a meeting of the DGP. ADGP Manoj Abraham is the state nodal officer for the new system. There will be two squads in each district. The squad will be led by a narcotics DySP to crack down on goons and the drug mafia.

Another squad led by Crime Branch SPs will work to curb gold smuggling. The interactions of other state workers on social media will be monitored. Regular monitoring will be carried out in labour camps. Awareness will be done to reduce alcohol and drug use. It is also proposed to carry out special surveillance to find those who supply intoxicants to the workers.

It is also suggested that each SHO and DYSP conduct separate monitoring of the camps in the area under their control.
