Siddharth’s death: Governor announces judicial inquiry, report should be submitted within three months

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has announced a judicial inquiry into the death of JS Siddharth, a second-year student of the Pookode Veterinary University. Former High Court Judge A Hariprasad is in charge of the investigation. The Governor announced the judicial inquiry using the powers of the Chancellor. Former Wayanad DySP VG Kunjan has also been appointed as an assistant in the investigation. The Governor directed the commission to submit the report within three months. The lapses on the part of the VC and the Dean will also come under the ambit of investigation.

The commission will conduct the probe to find out the circumstances that led to Siddharth’s death, the lapses on the part of the varsity authorities to prevent brutal violence on campus and the conspiracy behind the violence. The commission will also recommend measures to be followed to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in future. The Veterinary University will bear the expense of the judicial inquiry.
