Seven persons confirmed with Black Fungus in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Black Fungus or Mucormycosis, was detected in  seven persons in Kerala. The infected were undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital. Among the seven found to have the rare fungal infection, three are from Tamil Nadu.

The Health Department experts have pointed out that people need not worry over the fungal infection Black Fungus at present, The fungal infection can be cured using anti-fungal drugs. This has been included in the treatment protocol of the state.

This rare fungal infection was reported in some parts of the country  since the outbreak of the Covid-19. The infection has been found in some recovering and recovered coronavirus patients. This fungal infection can turn dangerous if left untreated. The re-emergence of this rare and dangerous fungal infection was found across hospitals in Delhi, Pune and Ahmedabad.

Headache, facial pain, nasal congestion, swelling in cheeks are some of the symptoms of mucormycosis. Proper use of antibiotics and anti-fungal medicines can control the infection.
