The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rallied 257 points, or 1.3 percent, to close at 20,792, today, on hopes that second quarter GDP growth will beat expectations. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 84 points, or 1.4 percent, to 6,176.

Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed.
