Sebastian Vettel registers 7th consecutive win at Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix

Recently crowned world champion for the fourth time, Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has won the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix. At the Yas Marina circuit yesterday, Vettel clocked 1 minute 43.893 seconds to finish at the top of the table. Second on the podium was Vettel’s team-mate Aussie Mark Webber, with Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg of Germany finishing third.

This victory has drawn Vettel level with compatriot Michael Schumacher’s mark of seven successive wins. If Vettel wins the last two races of the season, he will equal the overall record of nine held by Alberto Ascari in the 1950s. The German, who also equalled his personal record set in 2011 of 11 race wins in a season, can also equal Schumacher’s overall record of 13 wins in a campaign, if he lands the final two races of the season.

26-year old Vettel had clinched the title at the Indian Grand Prix last weekend. He became the youngest driver to win the title four times.
