Thiruvananthapuram: Restrictions similar to lockdown have been implemented in the state on Saturday and Sunday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan informed this in a press meet held after the Covid review meeting on Friday.
Only essential services are allowed to function on these days. As the situation is critical, all people should follow the Covid preventive restrictions, he requested.
The chief minister also requested to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) in order to help the state for providing Covid vaccination to more people.
All people are urged to stay at home on Saturday and Sunday and spend the days for their families. Unnecessary travelling and programmes should be avoided.
Weddings scheduled already can be conducted without change. Maximum 75 people can attend events in halls and 150 people in open spaces. Those who are going to participate in weddings should carry identity cards and wedding invitation cards. Maximum 50 people can attend funerals.
Long distance travelling should be avoided. Travelling is allowed for attending wedding, funeral, visiting close relative in hospital, buying medicines and food. They have to carry a declaration with them for this.
Train and flight services will be available. Tickets and other documents can be shown to the police during checking.
Hotels and restaurants can continue home delivery of food. In case of emergency situations, people can get food from hotels. They have to carry a declaration with them for this.
Employees of telecom, IT, hospitals, media firms, milk, newspaper distribution, water supply, power and similar sectors are allowed relaxation of rules.
No restriction for selling fish at households. Sellers should wear masks and follow other Covid protocols.
As higher secondary exam is not changed, students and teachers can travel.
