Refrain from taking action against Sudhakaran till Wednesday: HC tells govt

Kochi: In a major relief to KPCC President K. Sudhakaran, the High Court issued a directive on Friday instructing the Crime Branch unit of the Kerala Police, currently investigating the cheating case against him, to refrain from taking coercive measures against the Congress leader until the next hearing scheduled for Wednesday (June 21, 2023).

Considering an anticipatory bail plea filed by the KPCC president, Kerala High Court has granted time to the State Government to present an explanation regarding Sudhakaran’s request for bail. Meanwhile, the government has been instructed not to take stringent actions against Sudhakaran.

At the same time, Director General of Prosecution TA Shaji informed that they couldn’t guarantee whether Sudhakaran’s arrest would be recorded during questioning or not. Meanwhile, Adv S Sreekumar, who represented KPCC president, argued that the case is “politically motivated.”

K Sudhakaran has been summoned for questioning on June 23, 2023. The court would arrive at a decision after examining the evidence produced by the prosecution during the court’s next sitting on June 21.
