KPCC president and Home Minister of Kerala Ramesh Chennithala on Friday said that the party should name Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister candidate.

“My opinion is that he should be declared the PM candidate of the party. That will do only good to the Congress,” he said adding “I will, however, obey whatever the Congress president decides,” Home Minister said

The Congress Working Committee on Thursday announced that Rahul Gandhi would not be the party’s nominee for Prime Ministership in the April-May Lok Sabha polls but would lead the election campaign.

It was Ramesh Chennithala who raised the demand for Rahul to be made PM candidate in the meeting. He got instant support from a host of leaders including BK Hari Prasad, Gurudas Kamat, Ghulam Nabi Azad and youth Congress chief Rajiv Satav.
