Police registers case against T’puram mayor and Sachin Dev MLA for obstructing official duty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against mayor Arya Rajendran, MLA Sachin Dev and five people who were with them for ‘blocking KSRTC bus with their car’. The case was registered by the Cantonment Police under bailable sections for obstruction of traffic. The action is based on the court’s direction to take appropriate action in a Public Interest Litigation filed for obstructing duties of a government official.

The Thiruvananthapuram Magistrate’s Court has directed the Cantonment Police to investigate the incident in which the car carrying Mayor Arya Rajendran and his family stopped in front of the KSRTC bus. The action was taken on the plea of lawyer Baiju Noel. The complaint filed by Baiju Noel was that the government official was obstructed in his official duties.

Meanwhile, KSRTC driver Yadu has filed a private petition to file a case against Mayor Arya Rajendran under non-bailable sections for obstructing public transport and disrupting official duties.
