PM warns against any external military intervention in Syria

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has warned against any external military intervention in Syria and said it will only exacerbate the conflict.

The Prime Minister pressed for the urgent need to promote a political settlement to the conflict addressing the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people. In an interview to Russian media ahead of his visit to Moscow, Dr Singh said, India has always held that there is no military solution to the conflict. He said, the Geneva-2 Conference should be convened at the earliest as the conflict in Syria could have broader economic and security consequences for the region.
