PM dedicates 5 MMT LNG terminal to nation

The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has called for united efforts by Asian countries towards a fair pricing mechanism for imported Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG in view of Asia being the driver of the global LNG demand. Dedicating the 5 Million Metric Ton LNG terminal to the nation at Kochi yesterday, the Prime Minister pointed out that import of natural gas and its pricing constitute challenges that we must meet successfully. He said the location of the terminal has been chosen so that it can provide the whole of South India with a cleaner and greener form of energy.


Ealier, after laying the foundation stone of the Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) Global Learning Centre, in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, Dr. Singh said that the Centre is committed to providing an enabling environment to encourage further growth in the Information Technology sector in view of its phenomenal growth in the country. He said it is one of our national priorities to impart skills training to the young men and women on a very large scale.

Dr. Singh will inaugurate the 90th anniversary of Malayalam newspaper, Mathrubhumi at Kochi in Kerala this afternoon. He will also attend a function to felicitate former Meghalaya Governor and senior Congress leader MM Jacob.
