Palarivattom flyover opens for traffic; CM, PWD minister thank labourers

Kochi: The Palarivattom flyover was opened for traffic on Sunday. The national highways wing chief engineer of Public Works Department opened the flyover to the public. In the wake of upcoming Assembly election, there was no inaugural ceremony. PWD Minister G Sudhakaran’s vehicle was the first to enter the flyover.

The minister congratulated DMRC’s E Sreedharan and Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society Ltd and workers over completing the reconstruction works in such a short time period.

The reconstruction of the flyover was completed in five months and 10 days. ULCCS completed the construction works under the supervision of DMRC led by E Sreedharan.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan took to Facebook and congratulated the labourers, who completed the works in lesser time than stipulated, by quoting German poet and reformer Bertolt Brecht.

Many developmental activities, including some which were considered impossible, were completed during this government tenure. It was all possible not only because of the determination of the government, but also with the hard work, dedication and support of labourers, he added.

After the flyover was opened, CPM supporters conducted a bike rally which was followed by BJP hailing Sreedharan.
