In Chhattisgarh, more than 70 per cent of voting has been recorded in seventy two constituencies that went to the polls in the second and final phase today. Brisk balloting has been reported from semi urban and rural areas.

No major untoward incident has been reported from anywhere. In this phase, as many as 842 candidates, including 75 women, have tested their electoral fortunes.

Prominent among the contestants were assembly speaker Dharamlal Kaushik, leader of opposition in the assembly Ravindra Choubey and nine ministers in the Raman Singh cabinet.
