Online registration not mandatory for taking second dose vaccine

Thiruvananthapuram: Online registration will not be compulsory for getting the second dose of COVID vaccine. The state health department has directed the officials in charge of vaccination to administer the second dose through spot allotment.

There are widespread complaints that people who took the first dose are unable to book for the second dose through online registration. Based on this, the department has issued a fresh direction.

Though spot allotment is given for the second dose, online registration for the first dose will continue.

ASHA workers and employees in local self-government bodies are directed to assist the health department to identify the people who have to receive the second dose. The people who need to take the second jab will be taken to the vaccination centres through spot allotment.

A special counter will be arranged for senior citizens and differently-abled people.

Stock available in private centres should be administered within April 30. The health department directed that excess stock should be administrated to people above 45 years for Rs 250 from May 1.
