Observer of the Central Election Commission for the 34 th time in the 16 th State : Raju Narayana Swamy creates new record

 

 

 

 

Dr Raju Narayana Swamy IAS, popularly known as Kerala’s anticorruption crusader has won another
record by being Central Observer of the Election Commission of India for the 34 th time. Swamy
clinched this magic figure through the recently concluded bye-election in Kolhapur (Maharashtra).
This was his third stint in Maharashtra, the earlier ones having been in Sindhudurg and Nasik.
Swamy had also the rare distinction of representing the country as International Observer in the
Zimbabwe Election in 2018. The All India First Rank holder of the 1991 batch, he has held various
positions including District Collector of five districts, Managing Director of the State Marketing
Federation , Commissioner Civil Supplies and Agriculture Production Commissioner- to name a few.
He also had a stint as Chairman, Coconut Development Board, Govt of India in which capacity he also
served as ALO to APCC (Asia Pacific Coconut Community). Dr Swamy is at present posted as Principal
Secretary to Govt of Kerala. He was in the news recently for receiving the coveted Satyendra Kumar
Dubey Award instituted by IIT Kanpur for his fight against corruption.
