Thiruvananthapuram: Arrangements of centres for continuous Covid-19 vaccination has been competed in Kerala, said Health Minister K. K. Shailaja.

A total of 8,062 frontline workers, who took the Covishield vaccine, on the inaugural day of the rollout on Saturday and that none had complained about any side effects.

The vaccination process will be held on four days a week in the state — Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Wednesdays had been set apart for immunisation of children. In 133 centres, 100 people each would be vaccinated on the designated days, the minister said.

The Health Department directors, health education director, Malabar Cancer Centre director and heart surgeons took the coronavirus vaccine on the first day to alleviate fears regarding the process.

Vaccination centres will be opened at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College on Monday and at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital on Tuesday. Besides, vaccination centres will be opened at Pulluvila primary health centre, and Anchuthengu community health centre. Vaccination has been completed at hospitals in Poozhanad, Manambur and Varkkala in Thiruvananthapuram, Shailaja said.

The vaccination will take place at 12 centres in Ernakulam, 11 centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode and at 9 centres in the remaining districts. The government is also planning to increase the number of vaccination centres in the coming days, she said.

Vaccination drive will be held from 9 am to 5 pm. Every person who has registered for the drive will receive SMS alert regarding the vaccination centre. Once the vaccine is administered, each person should wait for 30 minutes, the minister said.
