Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant gets extension

 

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared the extension to Mr Kant.The Modi government granted extension to Niti Aayog’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amitabh Kant till June 2019. His extension order was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday evening.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi cleared the extension to Mr Kant, who was appointed in Niti Aayog after he superannuated as Secretary, Department of Investment Promotion and Publicity (DIPP). Mr Kant is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of 1980 batch from Kerala cadre.

Before he became Secretary in the ministry of DIPP in the Ministry of Commerce, he was CEO of ambitious industrial project Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), which is being funded by Japan. He also worked in the Ministry of Tourism and was the main brain behind the Incredible India campaign and in his parent cadre Kerala where he led Kerala’s successful tourism campaign God’s Own Country.
