In Assam, at least 9 persons have been kidnapped by militants near Bagori range of Kaziranga national park in Karbi Anglong district. Karbi Anglong S P Mugdhajyoti Mahanta said that underground outfit Karbi People’s Liberation Tigers, KPLT abducted them yesterday.

The abducted people are believed to be involved in illegal timber business but exact cause of kidnapping is yet to ascertain. Police have recovered three trucks this morning at Bhalukjuri hills under Rongbong Bay police station in which they were travelling to Kaziranga. Security forces have launched search operation to trace them. Most of the kidnapped persons are from neighboring Nagaon district.
