Nilambur UDF candidate V V Prakash, 56, passes away

Malappuram:  Nilambur UDF candidate V V Prakash passed away here early morning due to heart attack. He was 56. He had undergone angioplasty a few months back. He was also Malappuram DCC president.  Though family members rushed him to the Manjeri hospital, his life could not be saved.

He suffered a heart attack midnight and was rushed from his house in Edakkara  to a nearby hospital but as his condition worsened, he was shifted to Manjeri hospital.

The Congress party was hoping to wrest the Nilambur seat from the ruling LDF alliance. The CPI(M) had fielded incumbent MLA P V Anwar.

Son of Kunnumel Krishnan Nair and Sarojini Amma, V V Prakash was born in Edakkara. He was a KSU activist during his college days and had served as Ernad taluk general secretary, Malappuram district secretary, KSU district president, Youth Congress state general secretary among others.

Several Congress leaders bereaved the death of Prakash. Muslim League leaders P K Kunhalikutty and KPA Majeed expressed condolence in the passing away of V V Prakash.  Prakash was a man who could take all sections of the people together and maintain a cordial relationship with all. Compassion was his forte and his loss has created a great loss to the family, Congress and the UDF. And also a great loss to the society, Kunhalikutty said. KPA Majeed said his death was unexpected and he was instrumental in bringing together and strengthening the UDF activities in Malappuram.
