New wave of attacks in Iraq kill 16, wound 34

A new wave of attacks in different parts of Iraq today, killed at least 16 people and wounded 34, police said. It was the latest in a surge in violence that has swept across Iraq since April, when security forces carried out a bloody raid on a Sunni protest camp in the country’s north, pushing violence to the highest levels.

The explosions came a day after a series of attacks killed at least 50 people yesterday.Today’s attacks bring the death toll across the country this month to 310. United Nations in a report said that more than 5,500 people killed in terror attcks this year.
