Kollam: The college staffers arrested for forcing students to remove innerwear before appearing for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) in Kollam said they acted as per the direction of the private agency which was hired by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the test.
The cleaning staff of the college arrested in the incident told Mathrubhumi News that they only arranged the room for students to remove their dresses.
“Officials who were frisking students segregated candidates claiming they had metallic objects on their body, and as a result, some were crying. When we inquired, the students asked whether any rooms were available for changing dresses. We let them change dresses in our restroom. Other than that, we have nothing to do with the incident,” said the cleaning staff. The staff also said those who searched the students were adamant that the innerwear must be removed in order to follow the protocols and refused to yield to the requests of the students.
The two cleaning staffers were arrested along with three of the contract agency that conducted the security check on Tuesday based on the complaints of the candidates. They were remanded by a local court here.
