Thiruvananthapuram: The cabinet meeting on Monday approved the recommendation made by the probe commission to terminate the service of the police personnel involved in the Nedumkandam custodial death case.
The report filed by Retired Justice K Narayanakuruppu with the findings and recommendations regarding the custodial death of Rajkumar of Kolahalamedu in Idukki was unanimously accepted. The report recommended to dismiss the police personnel as per the Article 311(2) of the Constitution.
The cabinet meeting also approved the draft policy prepared by the Social Justice Department regarding the probation system in the state. Under this system, the persons found guilty of crimes that will not lead to life imprisonment or death penalty, will be put on probation instead of being punished.
Another decision of the cabinet meeting was the establishment of new taluk supply offices in newly formed taluks of Kunnamkulam and Payyannur. The required vacancies will be created.
It also decided to recommend to the Governor to issue an ordinance on the guidelines for the appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff at self-financing colleges affiliated to various universities and their service conditions.
Another recommendation to be made to the Governor was regarding the formation of Kerala Toddy Industry Welfare Board.
Cabinet also decided to take over ten aided schools including Puliyannur St. Thomas UP School, RVLPS. (Kuruvilassery), ALPS. (Mulavukad), MGUPS. (Perumpilly Mulanthuruthi), LPS (Kanjipadam), NNSUPS (Alakkad), SMLPS (Choolissery), TIUPS. (Ponnani), Srivasudeva Ashram Higher Secondary School (Neduvathoor), and Sarvajana Higher Secondary School (Pudukode, Palakkad).
Another decision taken was to provide government jobs to Mister Universe Chitharesh Natesan and international men’s bodybuilding silver medalist Shinu Chowa.
It was also decided to rollout pay revision in Transformers and Electricals Kerala Limited, Kerala Coir Workers Welfare Fund Board, Kerala State Power and Infrastructure Finance Corporation and in the manager and supervisory staff positions in Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Limited.
