Miss Kerala car crash death case: Started race from the hotel for fun, says driver of Audi car

KOCHI: The police had recently found that an Audi car had chased the ill-fated car carrying former Miss Kerala and friends before the accident. Now, Shaiju, the driver of the Audi car, has confessed that the two cars were involved in a race just before the accident. In his statement to the police, Shaiju said that they began the race for fun. Abdul Rahman, who drove Ansi’s car, overtook the Audi car twice. Shaiju also said that he had overtaken Ansi’s car once.

Upon reaching Edappally, Shaiju noticed that Ansi’s car was not following his car. Following this, he went back and found that Ansi’s car met with the accident. Shaiju said that he immediately called the police control room number 100. Meanwhile, there is no possibility of filing a case against Shaiju in the incident.

In order to register a case for overspeeding, the police need footage from a speed camera detector. However, the police haven’t obtained any such footage from the route in which cars travelled.
