BHOPAL: Free electricity up to 100 units, Rs 1,500 per month for women under ‘Nari Samman Yojana’, LPG cylinder for Rs 500…these are some of the promises announced by the Congress ahead of the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh. It is reported that the party will release its election manifesto this afternoon. The manifesto, titled ‘Vachan Patrika’, will be released by Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath and AICC General Secretary Randeep Surjewala.
The Congress has also promised that it would conduct a caste census if it comes to power in the state. According to sources, the Congress manifesto also promises implementation of the old pension scheme, farm loan waiver, scholarships for students, financial assistance of Rs 500 per month for students of class I to VIII, Rs 1000 per month for Class 9 and Class 10 students, and Rs 1500 per month for Class 11 and Class 12 students.
Polling for 230 seats in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly is scheduled for November 17. Polling will be done in a single phase. The counting of votes will take place on December 3. Congress has announced the list of 144 candidates so far.
