Life out of gear in Darjeeling as indefinite bandh enter 10th day

West Benga: In West Bengal, normal life has completely been paralysed in the hills of Darjeeling on the tenth consecutive day of the indefinite bandh called by Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) in the hills of Darjeeling district to press the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has given an ultimatum in view of the Calcutta High Court order to call off the bandh or face stern actions. The deadline of 72 hours given by the Chief Minister will end by tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, the GJMM is trying to chalk out its future course of action following the ultimatum by the Chief Minister and has stated that a “Janta Curfew” shall be observed on the 13th and 14th of August.

194 persons have been arrested in various cases of violation of law so far. Security forces are constantly patrolling to maintain law and order.
