Lavlin: CBI files revision plea in HC

The CBI filed a revision plea in the High Court against the lower court discharging CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan in the SNC Lavalin case. The plea was filed on Friday when the time for filing an appeal was due to expire. It was the Thiruvananthapuram CBI special court which discharged Pinarayi from the Lavlin case.

The verdict by CBI special judge on November 5, 2013, discharging Pinarayi Vijayan will be challenged by the CBI in the high court.

In the deal signed for getting aid from Lavlin company to the Malabar Cancer Centre, the CBI feels Pinarayi Vijayan had intentionally faulted on this. The trial court had discharged Pinarayi from Lavlin case not taking into account various important issues in the charge sheet.

Crime chief editor T P Nandakumar has already filed an appeal against the CBI court verdict but four high court judges have recused themselves from hearing the case.
