Muvattupuzha: In a new twist in the missing case of Ancy, sister of Kottiyam suicide victim Ramzi, police have taken her into custody along with a man from Muvattupuzha. The man, who is a native of Thiruvananthapuram, is a member of the social media group called ‘Justice for Ramzi’.
Ancy’s husband Muneer had registered a complaint with Eravipuram police in Kollam after she went missing on January 18. The 24-year-old woman had left home abandoning her husband and their 10-month-old child. Police spotted her location by tracking her mobile phone.
Eravipuram police informed Muvattupuzha police to nab the duo after confirming their location. Later, Muvattupuzha police spotted Ancy and her boyfriend, who were travelling in a scooter, and took them into custody from the town.
Ancy and the man were planning to move to Bengaluru. They had reached Muvattupuzha to arrange money for their trip from a friend, reported police. Muvattupuzha police later handed over them to Eravipuram police.
“A missing case was registered at first. We are examining the scope of imposing charges under Juvenile Justice act,” Eravipulam police told Mathrubhumi.com. The woman will be produced before the court by Friday evening.
Ancy was active in the protests related to Ramzi’s death. Amidst this, she became close with the man, who is a member of ‘Justice for Ramzi’. According to police, the man had been booked in similar cases and was involved in fake campaigns on social media.
