Kannur: Azhikode MLA and Muslim League state secretary KM Shaji suffered a heart attack on Friday.

According to reports, he was rushed to a private hospital in Kozhikode where he underwent an emergency angioplasty.

Meanwhile, KM Shaji turned positive for COVID-19 in the test held before the angioplasty. The MLA was taken to the hospital after he complained of uneasiness.

On Thursday, Vigilance had interrogated Shaji over the alleged bribery case over allotting Plus Two for a school in Azhikode.

Kannur DySP Babu Peringeth questioned the MLA at his office for more than 3 hours from 3 pm.
