Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Sunday reported 7,025 new cases of Covid-19, informed Health Minister K. K. Shailaja in a press release. 8,511 recoveries were also reported in the state.
6,163 patients cotnracted the disease through contact. Among them, the virus source of 712 cases remains unknown. Out of the new patients 85 had returned from outside the state.
28 deaths were also confirmed in the state taking the COVID death toll to 1,512.
The ditsrict-wise statistics of positive cases are: Ernakulam – 1042, Thrissur – 943, Kozhikode – 888, Kollam – 711, Alappuzha – 616, Thiruvananthapuram – 591, Malappuram – 522, Palakkad – 435, Kottayam – 434, Kannur – 306, Pathanamthitta – 160, Idukki – 148, Kasaragod – 143 and Wayanad – 86.
The ditsrict-wise statistics of contact cases are: Ernakulam – 841, Thrissur – 920, Kozhikode – 870, Kollam – 702, Alappuzha – 591, Thiruvananthapuram – 453, Malappuram – 483, Palakkad – 222, Kottayam – 431, Kannur – 214, Pathanamthitta – 122, Idukki – 105, Kasaragod – 130 and Wayanad – 79.
65 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19. Among them, 20 are from Ernakulam, 11 each from Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur, 5 from Kannur, 4 from Malappuram, 3 each from Pathanamthitta, Kozhikode and Kasaragod, 2 from Kollam and 1 each from Kottayam, Palakkad and Wayanad.

There are 89,675 active coronavirus cases in Kerala while 3,48,835 have recovered. As many as 2,93,622 are under observation. Among them, 2,71,499 are in home/institutional quarantine while 22,123 are in hospitals. 2,667 were admitted to hospitals on Sunday.
50,010 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. So far, 46,95,059 samples, including those collected from priortiy groups as part of sentinel surveillance, were sent for testing.
7 new Covid hotspots were identified in the state on Sunday while 22 regions were removed from the list. There are a total of 671 hotspots in the state.
