Idukki: A policeman has been suspended from service for allegedly leaking confidential information of RSS workers from the police database to SDPI workers. The cop has been identified as Civil Police Officer (CPO) Anas PK of Karimannur police station here.
Notably, the policeman’s act came to light following the arrest of SDPI workers. Recently, in Thodupuzha, SDPI workers dragged a
KSRTC driver out of the bus and thrashed him over a rift due to some social media post. Police arrested six SDPI workers and examined their mobile phones in connection with the incident. During the examination, it was revealed that one among the arrested was in constant touch with Karimannur CPO Anas. The cop allegedly had sent contact details of RSS workers to the SDPI activists through WhatsApp.
Following this, CPO Anas was transferred to the district police headquarters. It is learnt that a detailed inquiry followed by his transfer confirmed the misconduct of the official. Later, the department issued an order suspending him from service
Meanwhile, BJP had demanded strict action against the official. BJP state chief K Surendran had alleged that there are SDPI agents in the police force.
