Karnataka violates unlock guidelines; closes borders with Kerala

Kasaragod: The Karnataka government on Monday closed the borders with Kerala restricting free movement between the two states. The roads including national highways were blocked pointing out the Covid-19 spread in Kerala.

RT-PCR test was made compulsory for those crossing borders at four points including Thalappady along the NH.

It is alleged that Karnataka is violating the unlock guidelines issued by the Centre.

Karnataka had earlier announced that it will tighten the Covid resistance activities from Wednesday. Restrictions have been put in place on the 17 roads near the borders in south Karnataka. Among them, roads are closed at 13 points. In 4 points, the restrictions are severe.

According to Karnataka, a Covid negative certificate is mandatory for crossing the border from Kerala. This has brought out new troubles for many including students.

Many alleged that the new set of restrictions have adversely affected their daily lives.

Measures have been initiated to file a writ petition at the Karnataka High Court against the state’s move.
