Kalamassery bus burning case: Two accused including Thadiyantavide Nazeer jailed for seven years

KOCHI: The Kochi NIA Court has sentenced two accused to seven years’ imprisonment and one to six years’ imprisonment in the Kalamassery bus burning case. Thadiyantavide Nazeer and Sabir Buhari have been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment. Whereas, accused Thajudin will have to spent six years in jail. The remand period will be considered as the sentence period, said the court.

Last day, the court had convicted three people, including Thadiyantavide Nazeer, in connection with the case. There are a total of 11 accused in the case. The trial has not been completed yet. All the three accused confessed that they had committed the crime even before the completion of the trial. Following which, they were convicted by the court.

When PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani was in jail, a Tamil Nadu bus was hijacked and burnt in Kalamassery as a move against the Tamil Nadu government. Many including Madani’s wife Sufia Madani are accused in the case.
