A meeting at Arvind Kejriwal’s home to discuss the controversial sealing drive in Delhi lapsed into chaos today as a team of BJP leaders walked out and later alleged they had been “heckled and attacked” by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmakers who were egged on by the Chief Minister.
“This is urban Naxalism. I cannot believe this kind of gundagardi (hooliganism) can happen in a Chief Minister’s house,” said Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, who led the party team. The BJP has filed a police complaint against five AAP legislators.
Mr Kejriwal is heard in a video saying, “Dekho, dar ke bhaag gaye (they ran away)” as the BJP team walked out of a packed conference hall. Other AAP lawmakers shouted “Sharam Karo (shame)”.
The Chief Minister accused the BJP leaders of “walking out” of the meeting because they didn’t want the media around.
“There is nothing confidential about it. It is nobody’s personal issue. It is a public matter. I begged them to sit down, discuss and together find a solution to the sealing drive. They just walked out,” Mr Kejriwal told reporters.
