NEW DELHI: An Indian student was shot at while trying to escape from Kyiv, said Union Minister V K Singh. The student was wounded in the firing and was taken back midway, the minister said. Reports said his injuries are not so serious.
The student from Punjab was shot at while going to Lviv from Kyiv in a car. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kyiv. Unconfirmed reports said that he was shot at thrice.
V K Singh said their aim was to fly home the Indians as soon as possible to lessen the casualties. Efforts are underway to send the body of Naveen, a native of Karnataka, who was killed in Ukraine, home. Naveen, a medical student, was killed in the shelling by Russia.
Meantime, two flights of the Air Force have reached Delhi from Ukraine. There were 420 people in the two flights. More than 7400 students will return today and tomorrow.
