Indian contingent of UN peacekeepers organise medic camp on I-Day

Newdelhi: The Indian contingent of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL organized a medical camp in south Lebanon on the occasion of 67th Independence Day of the nation. INDBATT, in cooperation with Al-Kayaan medical clinic, conducted a Multi-Speciality Medical Camp in the southern region of Arqoub.

The UNIFIL commander Maj. Gen. Paulo Serra inaugurated the medical camp in presence of Hasbaya MP Qassem Hashem and several other dignitaries. He lauded the role of INDBATT in providing humanitarian assistance to the people of the region. Around 300 patients from different villages of Arqoub in INDBATT’s area of operation availed of the free consultancy, free medicine and free transport organized by the Indian peacekeepers in Lebanon.

Handbooks on veterinary care and dental care prepared by INDBATT were also released on this occasion. These handbooks will be distributed to the local population to assist them in taking care of their livestock and personal oral hygiene.

India is one of the largest contributors to the UN Interim force in Lebanon or the UNIFIL with 896 peacekeepers.
