India finishes 2nd day’s play at 354 for 6 in 1st cricket test against WI

Rohit Sharma’s sparkling century on debut and Ravichandran Ashwin’s fine 92 helped India to take a firm grip of the first Cricket Test against the West Indies in Kolkata today. Replying to the visitors’ first innings score of 234 all out, India were a comfortable 354 for six at close on the second day after struggling at 83 for five at one stage.

Sharma who was still at the crease on 127 along with Ashwin, became the 14th Indian to score a century on debut. India have already taken a first innings lead of 120 runs.

Retiring legend Sachin Tendulkar was out for 10 in his penultimate match.
